More frequently asked Questions

How do I remove an E-Print once it is posted?

Papers can be removed. Unfortunately, the E-Prints software does not enable you to remove papers automatically. Removal is initiated with a removal request via email to danny.kingsley@anu.edu.au. You should give a reason for requesting the removal of the document. Your request will be sent to the archive administrator, who may remove your paper or correspond with you further via e-mail. Division of Information staff will then remove the paper as quickly as possible, typically within one business day. All requests for removal will be honoured, although we encourage you to leave e-prints deposited for stability of the archive's contents, but we understand if this cannot be done.

Are there any quality control checks?

Yes. The version-linking feature of the archive described above means that people always see the latest version of your paper. Incoming submissions do not go straight into the archive; initially they are placed in a "buffer". Division of Information staff then review the papers in this buffer, and only those with content suitable for the archive are installed. This prevents the archive becoming clogged up with unsuitable material.

How long does it take after an article is deposited with the archive for it to become available to the public?

Allow until the end of the next business day following the day the deposit is made. When an e-print is deposited, it immediately gets sent to our "submission buffer" where a staff member does a quick routine check of the e-prints deposited that day. Once the paper has gone through a quality control check the paper is then publicly accessible via a search.

Do they accept non-English submissions?

They do accept papers written in any language. However, English is preferable, especially for the abstract (as entered in the webform).
