Editing your PDF File

Creation of Files for Submission to the Australasian Digital Theses Program (ADT)

Note: Use these instructions only if your whole thesis has already been converted to one single PDF file.

  1. Open this original PDF version of your thesis with Adobe Acrobat 7.0
  2. Resave this file and name it 02whole.pdf (File > Save As)
  3. Resave this file and name it 01front.pdf (File > Save As)
  4. This file only requires the introductory pages of your thesis. Therefore, pages from the beginning of Chapter 1 to the end of the last chapter are not required and need to be deleted as follows:
  5. Go to the first page you would like to delete from the file (e.g. the beginning of Chapter 1)
  6. From the menu select Document > Delete Pages
  7. In the dialogue box
  8. select the From radio button
  9. type in the page number which you would like to delete from (e.g. 8)
  10. type in the page number which you would like to delete to (e.g. 310)
  11. Press OK
  12. Save the file(File > Save)
  13. Close this file

Please note: If any of these files are larger than 4MB, then split your thesis into smaller size files following the file naming instructions above (in "How do I name my files so they meet ANU ADT file name standards?").
