Thesaurus and Synonyms
When searching Library catalogues, databases or the internet, be aware that many concepts can be described with a variety of words. These may be different words with the same meaning (synonyms), or words with related meanings (Thesaurus). Words with related meanings may "broaden" the concept or "narrow" the concept. The ANU Library catalogue and databases use a "controlled vocabulary". A thesaurus is available in MSWord on both Mac and PC computers: Open MS Word > Tools > Language > Thesaurus
