Customizing Reference types

The reference types used in EndNote are based on various types of references commonly used around the world. However, there may be times when you need to add an extra field to your own references, or perhaps you would like to change the terms used to identify particular fields.

  • In EndNote, go to the Edit menu and choose Preferences
  • Select Reference types
  • Click on Modify reference types

You can modify reference types and set default references, change the names of fields, create your own reference types, etc. by overtyping the information that is presented in the table below.
