Modifying Styles
Editing Citations
There may be times when the standard type of citation is not sufficient for your needs, so it is necessary to edit the citations.
ENDNOTE TIP:
It is important that you make a copy of the style you wish to change before making any changes.
Making a Copy of the Style
Such that you can easily retrieve the original style, it is advisable to make a copy of the style you are going to base your changes on before any alterations are made. This acts as a backup in case something should go wrong, or in case you need the original for a future project.
To make a copy of the style you wish to change:
- From the Edit menu, choose Output Styles > Open Style Manager
- Double-click on the style you wish to base your changes on
- From the File menu, choose Save As
- Give your style a new name and save it into the Styles directory under EndNote
Alternatively, you can create a new style from scratch:
- From the Edit menu, choose Output Styles > New Style
