Moving References Between Libraries

EndNote allows you to move references between libraries with ease.

Copying Selected References to another library

Steps:

  • Highlight the references you wish to copy. (Remember if the references are discontinuous you will need to hold down the CNTL key and click on each reference to select it)

Either

  • Right mouse click and choose Copy. Right click in the library that you wish to paste the references into and choose Paste.

OR

  • Go to the Edit menu and select Copy. Next open the library you wish to paste the references into go back to the Edit menu and choose Paste.

Copied references will be given new reference numbers in the new library, but will be automatically sorted among the references in the new library. E.g. By Author, date or whatever sort order you have selected.

Merging Libraries

Steps:

  • Select all the references in the library you wish to merge into another library by going to the Edit menu and selecting Select All
  • Now select Copy (or Cut) from the Edit menu and open the EndNote library you wish to put these reference into.
  • Go to the Edit menu and select Paste.
