Entering EndNotes & Footnotes

To insert a footnote into your Word document, select Insert from the Word menu bar, then select Reference, Footnote.

Next find the citation and insert your citation just as you do your in-text citations. In your Word document you should now have the footnote inserted at the bottom of the page and an entry added to the bibliography.

Note it is important to select a footnote style when you want to insert footnotes. Go to the Output Style Manager to view styles. The information on each style will indicate if it is a footnote style. One well-known footnote style is Chicago 15A.
