Handy online tips: Preparing for Exams

So, it's a week before your exam, and you've decided that you need to do some study! Well, ideally, this decision should have been made some time ago, but regardless of where you are at in the study cycle, here are some useful tips and websites to help you out. So hop to it - get some study done on how to study!

"Knowing how to study is like knowing how to fish. It's a set of learning skills that lasts a lifetime and brings many rewards."¹ Use these resources to develop good study habits, recognise your strengths and weaknesses, and be prepared for essays, tests and exams.

If you want to feel more relaxed over the build up to the exam period, come along to the Relaxation Group sessions at the Counselling Centre. Email counselling.centre@anu.edu.au

Take a study skills audit with the University of Minnesota Duluth, and then hone the skills that need some work.

Marquette University's Educational Opportunity Program offers some study tips & test-taking strategies

The University of Waterloo offers a Study Skills Package helping you with skills such as listening, reading, distractions, and time management (click on the links on the side bar) .

Canada's University of Victoria has a Learning Skills Program with advice on exam techniques, motivation, critical thinking and public speaking.

Strategies for exam questions that you cannot answer immediately can be found at the Virginia Tech Cook Counselling Centre.

As part of the University of Waterloo Study Skills you can gain some useful information on preparing for exams and different techniques to try once you are in the examination room.
