Advanced Research Official documents, microforms, newspapers, and the University Archives Program are key resources for researchers in the social sciences and humanities - These courses will be announced in the near future.

A bibliographic creation and management tool for those who use LaTeX.

E-publishing Theses and Research Papers Covers the tools and techniques for electronically publishing theses and research papers in Adobe PDF format. Graduate research students intending to deposit their theses with the Australian Digital Theses (Adt) Program are strongly recommended to attend a session.

EndNote is a software application used in association with MS Word that greatly improves the efficiency of creating bibliographies. It's a must-learn for graduate students!

Introduction to Information Literacy
(Online WebCT course which requires self-registration with your student number and ISIS password)

This is the foundation module for the Graduate Course Award in Research Information Literacy. Also included is how being confident and competent in information literacy skills relates to the postgraduate experience and to the Australian Information Literacy standards.

For those who use LaTeX instead of MS Word for word processing.

Literature Review Project In order to complete the Course Award in Research Information Literacy and support your PhD thesis, students are required to complete a Literature Review Project and a Research Sources Consultation.

This workshop considers key issues in Literature Review writing with the aim of highlighting how process preferences may influence both the information you choose to document from your reading of the literature and how you organise your information.

An introductory seminar which explores the issues surrounding managing the thesis production process for graduate students starting out, or part way through, their candidature.

Covers all you will ever need to know in order to produce a thesis using Microsoft Word.

Research Sources Consultation In order to complete the Course Award in Research Information Literacy and support your PhD thesis, students are required to complete a Literature Review Project and a Research Sources Consultation.

A hands-on workshop for research students on how to analyse a topic, identify appropriate keywords and search databases effectively using Boolean operators. A selection of general, subject specific databases will be used in this course.

Learn how to select information sources that are appropriate to your needs. Develop skills in evaluating information while working on a number of subject specific databases.

Search the Web efficiently and evaluate what you find. This workshop includes information about citation indexes, how to conduct citation searches and how to set up a current awareness profile.

This session will provide staff and postgraduate students with information about how to create, use and provide access to their digitial research materials, Bookings essential for this course.
