Digital Media Suite – InfoPlace@Chifley
The Digital Media Suite is located in InfoPlace@Chifley, level 2.
It provides a range of digitising, authoring and publishing tools and is available
to staff and students of the Australian National University for work, study
or research related purposes. There is no charge for use of the facilities.
The equipment enables you to scan and capturce materials from a variety of
sources, such as photographs, illustrations or video and incorporate them into
electronic documents. Professional authoring software is available for you to
edit scanned images, create web pages and multimedia presentations, author printed
documents, and burn interactive or archival CD/DVDs in a variety of formats.
Help
Assistance with the applications can be provided by the AskANU IT Consultants.
Reference books and manuals are provided for all main applications and may be
used within the Digital Media Suite. (These are not available for loan.)
Bookings
Bookings can be made by speaking with the an AskANU IT Consultant at the AskANU
desk in the Chifley Library. Except in special circumstances, equipment may
only be booked for up to two hours at a time and up to 12 hours per week. Please
speak with the AskANU IT Consultant Co-ordinator (e-mail InfoPlace@anu.edu.au)
if you need to arrange for more intensive use.
Conditions of Use
- The Digital Media Suite is available for use by current ANU staff, students
and affiliate members. It is to be used for work, study or research related
purposes only. Under no circumstances should the facilities be used for private
purposes.
- AskANU IT Consultants can provide limited assistance in using the facilities,
but generally users are required to have a reasonable understanding of the
software they are attempting to use if more intensive work is required for
their projects.
- Reference material, software manuals etc are available for use in the Digital
Media Suite. These may not be removed.
- The Digital Media Suite is available for use throughout Chifley
opening hours. All computing facilities must be vacated 30 minutes before
closing time. The Digital Media Suite may be unavailable at times, e.g. for
maintenance or training sessions. Bookings may be made either by speaking
with the AskANU IT Consultants at the AskANU desk or via e-mail to dms@anu.edu.au.
Equipment may only be booked for up to two hours at a time and up to 12 hours
per week.
- Users need to supply their own consumables, such as CD-R's, DVD-Rs, USBs,
videotapes.
- Users who knowingly breach the ANU's IT
Policies, including copyright
laws will lose all access privileges to the Digital Media Suite and may
be personally liable for any legal action as a result of a breach. Copyright
notices, which set out copying restrictions, accompany all copying equipment.
- Users may not change configurations or install new software. If you
need modifications to the software installation, please contact the AskANU
IT Consultant Coordinator (e-mail InfoPlace@anu.edu.au).
- The Australian National University shall not be liable for any loss, damage
or expense due to the use of the Digital Media Suite facilities, services
and information.
