Terms and Conditions of
Information Literacy Program (ILP) Training
Information Literacy training is only available to enrolled ANU students and ANU Staff. The purpose of our training is to better enable you to undertake your study, teaching, research and support roles within the University, and efficiently access the rich information environment available through the ANU infrastructure.
STUDENTS – POST and UNDER GRADUATE
REGISTRATION
- Registration is via the online booking system (in ISIS).
- The ILP reserves the right to overbook courses to ensure full classes.
- If you register you will be given preference.
- The trainer may allow unregistered students to participate.
COST OF TRAINING
- The ILP’s Student courses are currently provided free of charge.
SESSIONS
- Most sessions are hands-on workshops.
- For most sessions you will have a computer to yourself, however, for the more popular courses you may need to share a computer.
- You may not enter after “5 mins past the start time" of the session - even if you have registered.
- At “5 mins past the start time”, waitlisted students are placed if possible.
STAFF - ACADEMIC and GENERAL
REGISTRATION
- You must obtain the approval of your Area, and a charge code for recovery of the cost of training, before your registration can be completed.
- It is your responsibility, along with your supervisor, to obtain necessary approvals in accordance with local financial delegations.
- Provision of a budget code is required for online registration and is taken as a commitment from your area to support the debiting of the funds from your cost centre.
- Registration for scheduled training is via the online booking system (in HORUS).
- Requests for Travelling Trainer appointments should be made by email to ilp@anu.edu.au
WAITING LISTS
- If a course is yet to have sessions scheduled, or those scheduled do not suit, please place your name on the Waitlist for the course. You will be contacted when new sessions are scheduled.
- If you attempt to register for a session when it is fully subscribed, you will be Waitlisted for the session. You will be contacted if a place becomes available.
COST OF TRAINING
- The cost of training is displayed in the online course details (in HORUS).
- The cost of training varies between courses.
- The total cost of your training is covered by contributions from:
- Your Area
- The Centre For Continuing Education (our training partner)
- The Information Literacy Program.
- If you register for a course and do not attend, your Area is liable to pay the No Show Fee.
- If you are more than 15 minutes late to a class you may not be admitted, and then will be charged the No Show Fee for non-attendance.
WITHDRAWAL / NO SHOW FEE
- The No Show Fee is displayed in the online session details (in HORUS).
- The No Show Fee varies between courses.
- You may withdraw your registration, online, seven calendar days or more prior to the session commencing (in HORUS).
- Within seven calendar days of the session, written notice of your intention to withdraw must be given to ilp@anu.edu.au. You may be charged the No Show Fee.
- You will be charged the No Show Fee if you fail to attend without notice.
- In exceptional and unavoidable circumstances, the No Show Fee may be waived with the production of documentary evidence to support your case.
- The No Show Fee may be charged if a Travelling Trainer session has been organised, you are not available when the trainer arrives, and you have given no notice.
- You may offer a substitute, at any time, to avoid the No Show Fee.
OTHER CONDITIONS
- The ILP reserves the right to restrict numbers from each area.
- If an area has a high demand for particular training, tailored programs may be possible. Please email ilp@anu.edu.au for details.
- All sessions are taught on Windows platform unless stated. Some session materials make reference to Macintosh equivalents where appropriate and available.
PREREQUISITES
- Prerequisites are required to ensure all participants have an effective learning experience. These are listed in the online course details (in HORUS).
- You may need to satisfy the prerequisites of a course to be accepted.
- You are deemed to satisfy the prerequisites if you have:
- attended the ILP prerequisite course
- attended an equivalent course
- completed online module(s) which cover the same content.
- Interactive online modules for most commonly used applications are available for ANU Staff and Students at http://anu.interactiontraining.net/register.aspx.
